Mount Lofty Golf Club Pro achieves Master Professional status

Mount Lofty Golf Club Professional, Warren Symons, has recently achieved “Master Professional” status, becoming only the third Professional in Australia to do so. The Professional Development Programme, which is run by PGA Australia, consists of four levels: Single A, Double A, Triple A and Master Professional.

To attain the level of Master Professional, a candidate must be invited by the PGA and must be a Triple A professional for a minimum of 8 years and a member of the PGA for a minimum of 20 years.

Warren has worked through all levels. His study culminated in writing a paper on his philosophy of teaching young people to play golf and the correlation between the transfer of learning golf skills to skills necessary in life situations.

As Warren writes, “I have taken a special interest in helping young people learn to play golf with skill, dedication, commitment and controlled passion, believing it may help them with the game of life in their adult years”.

Club Captain David Wauchope said “Putting his ideas in writing gave Warren a greater appreciation of the responsibility he has to Mount Lofty Golf Club, especially in trying to be a role model to the juniors.”

Warren conducts junior clinics at the Club on a regular basis and is available by appointment for individual tuition.
