Following this meeting, the new Mount
Lofty Flag (featuring the Blue Wren) was raised for the first time by
Nan Francis (Life Member) and Dot Hartley. The occasion was marked by a
toast with Champagne kindly donated by members of the Ladies Committee.
The flag was purchased by the Lady Members own funds. Gala Day on 8th
November 2001 raised $651.00. Some of this money will be used for
renovations to the Lily Waite House (Ladies Locker Room) including a
skylight and lighting.
The Presentation Dinner on 23 November
2001 was well attended and most of our Lady Trophy Winners were present
to receive their prizes. Our Social Committee was responsible for the
lovely flowers and table arrangements on the evening. They received
special mention and were applauded by the guests. Grace Barrow and Dot
Hartley delighted us with a very individual version of "My
Favourite Things".
Good golfing to all members in 2002.

Rub of the Grin!
Answer to Rules Question
He could replay the stroke (penalty) or
drop unplayable then drop again (penalty).
If he does not want a penalty, his only option is to play the ball as it
lies. He is not entitled to relief from the bushes, only from the path.

That's Historical
While looking up details for the Meet
..... article, I chanced to notice the names of these people who were,
according to Club records, the top ten, long term, active members of
MLGC:
In today's monetary terms these people
have contributed the equivalent of around $500,000 to the club in
subscriptions and calls over their four decades or more of membership.
There is a slight discrepancy in the recorded joining date and the
actual date of signing up for membership. The club generally recorded
the date when applicants became substantive members - years of
provisional membership didn't count. For instance, I actually signed up
in late 1959 and have played here since then, but I was not offered full
membership until 1961 because of a waiting period for provisional
members.
