Editorial

New financial year - New Committee. Welcome to those who are valiant enough and love the Club enough to give their time and a few grey hairs to running it. Our Management now comprises:- 
President: Ross Deans 
Vice: Malcolm Morrison 
Captain: Darryl McKee 
Vice: Ben Tobin. 
Committee: Gordon Bowen, Marion Cartwright, Ian Craigie (Treasurer), Cliff Ellis, Peter Loveless and Peter Walsh. 

Times are hard for all golf clubs at present, so give your support to these people in their task, which is honorary, time consuming and often quite thankless. 

Backing these people is our Club Secretary/Manager and Bar Manager, Phil Middleton. 

Another new face at the Club comes with Shirley, working in the office with Carole Fear. Shortly after Shirley's appointment I went into the office to introduce myself.
"Good afternoon. Sherlock's the name and detection's the game." I was wearing my deer stalker at the time. 
"Good afternoon, Sherlock. And I'm Moriarty!" 
I thought, "How clever, knowing that Professor Moriarty was Sherlock Holmes' arch enemy." 
After this little exchange we chatted for a while and then I went off for a hit. 
It was not until she sent me copy for this newsletter that I learned she really is Shirley Moriarty. 
"Small world," I thought, searching suspiciously for clues and drawing reflectively on my calabash. 

Best wishes for the winter and don't forget, "Read the Rules of Golf and consider fellow golfers."

President's Report 

First I want to welcome the new committee members, namely Ian Craigie, who is taking on the role of Treasurer, Malcolm Morrison, who is assuming the position of Vice President, and Gordon Bowen, Peter Walsh, Cliff Ellis and Peter Loveless. All will be a great asset to the running of the club. 

Thanks to Jack McKean for his efforts and leadership during his term as President, Tim Seibert for his tireless efforts in managing the finances of the club during difficult times and also retiring committee members Jan Seedsman, David Tonkin and Keith Pigram. I thank them for their efforts and service on the Committee of Management and Sub Committees. 

Congratulations to the staff for their tireless efforts. I look forward to their continued support. Membership is vital to the success of any club and I would like to urge members to support their club and the events held during the year, not only golfing events but also social functions. New members are keenly sought and I encourage members to bring friends to enjoy the ambience of Mt. Lofty.
